In the Senior School, we endeavour to sustain the instinctive fascination that our pupils have with Science. We encourage pupils to think independently and to apply their growing knowledge to the world around them.

Years 7 to 9

All pupils in Years 7 to 9 follow the Spotlight Science course. Pupils are involved in as much laboratory work as possible as it illustrates and consolidates science theory and enables pupils to devise and carry out their own investigations.

GCSE Science

Examination Board: AQA

Pupils in Years 10 to 11 study Modular Science at Single or Double level. Pupils with a notable aptitude in Science are offered the opportunity to study Triple Science, which offers Biology, Chemistry and Physics as separate GCSE subjects.

The course is structured as follows:

Year 10 Module examinations- 30% of the terminal grade
Coursework – 20%
Year 11 Terminal examination – 50%
