GCSE Photography

Examination Board: OCR

GCSE Photography enables students to develop awareness and individual responses to their own experiences. Over two years, pupils are expected to acquire the necessary skills to translate those experiences into photographic images.

Pupils are assessed by Coursework. This component consists of a number of projects set by the Photography Department in accordance with the syllabus devised by the Examination Board.

Resources

An extensive library of texts covering the technical and aesthetic aspects of still photography is available to all students at all levels. This is complemented by a Film Library.

Extra-Curricular Activities

Pupils in Years 7 to 9 are offered the opportunity to participate in the weekly after-school Photography Club. This activity offers an introduction to the photographic process and gives pupils a taste of the subject should they wish to pursue it at GCSE level.
