Modern Foreign Languages

In the MFL department, we are passionate about the vital importance of languages in today's international marketplace. Through the study of a foreign language, pupils come to understand and appreciate different countries and cultures as well as gaining a greater understanding of grammar and language structure.

Years 7 to 9

Both French and Spanish are taught in Years 8 to 9. Emphasis is placed on communication and teachers endeavour to make lessons fun and interactive. In French, Year 7 pupils are placed in mixed ability groups, with Years 8 to 11 set according to ability. At present, Spanish is compulsory in Years 8 and 9, with pupils having the option to continue to GCSE.

GCSE French and Spanish

Examination Board: AQA
