ICT

The aim of the ICT department is to enable pupils to acquire a high level of ICT competence, thus enabling them to meet the demands of their everyday and future working lives.

Years 7 to 9

From Years 7 to 9 pupils are taught for two periods per week. One period is allocated to the development of practical IT skills and one to the theoretical aspects of the subject. At GCSE level, the subject is optional but the ICT resources are used by all students in order to assist with their research and coursework requirements.

At GCSE, pupils are taught in small groups and are required to produce two pieces of coursework worth 60% of the final grade. The first piece of coursework consists of a task set by the Examination Board and the second is chosen by the student.
