Art and Design

Drawing from direct observation forms the basis for all study in our busy department.

Years 7 to 9

In Years 7 to 9, pupils are encouraged to experiment with materials and ideas so that they may challenge convention via the media of painting, printmaking, collage, computer aided design and three dimensional works. Pupils are also set projects and are required to use one of London’s many art galleries, museums, parks or local architecture as a source of inspiration.

By the end of Year 9, pupils will have covered all elements of line, shape, form, colour, tone, pattern and texture in order to ensure they have good foundation knowledge should they wish to continue with the subject at GCSE.
