Please explain your admissions procedure.
Parents and pupils are encouraged to attend one of the Open Mornings that run throughout the year. The morning includes a talk from the Head Teacher, a tour of the school and a chance to meet pupils and other staff over coffee. A registration form should then be filled out and returned to the Admissions Registrar who will enrol the pupil for the next available Assessment Day. The Assessment Day is not a formal examination but will consist of verbal, non-verbal reasoning, Maths and English tests as well as informal observation during the day. The day also enables your son or daughter to get a feel for daily life at the school. A reference from the pupil’s current school will be required before any offer can be made.
How soon after the Admissions Day will I know if my son/daughter has been offered a place?
Within two weeks of the Admissions Day a letter will be sent notifying families of the admissions decision.
What do the pupils do after GCSE and which Sixth Forms do they go to?
Almost all pupils go on to study at AS/A2 level, either at schools or colleges. Many of our pupils go to schools such as Highgate, King Alfred’s, Mill Hill, Westminster and Camden School for Girls (boys at Sixth Form level). Some pupils also go on to colleges such as DLD, MPW and City and Islington College . A small number also go on to boarding schools such as Rugby and Bedales.
What is your boy-girl ratio given that the school is co-educational?
We have approximately 60% boys and 40% girls currently enrolled at the school.
How many pupils are there in a class?
Class sizes average between fifteen and eighteen pupils. Classes are kept deliberately small to ensure that pupils feel nurtured and supported.
What provision is made for pupils with Dyslexia or Special Educational Needs?
The Special Educational Needs department has its own room and computers, with a Head of Department who works with individuals and small groups. Pupils may have anything from one to five sessions per week depending on their needs.
Is there a school bus?
The school runs a private bus service, thus enabling pupils to travel to school conveniently and safely. A number of routes operate, but for further information, please contact the School Bursar.
Are scholarships or bursaries available and what is the application procedure?
We offer a limited number of Academic, Creative Arts and Music Scholarships, as well as bursaries. We select scholarship candidates based upon the reference received from the pupil's school and the scores obtained on the assessment papers.
What is the school policy on bullying?
The school has a zero tolerance policy on bullying.
Is there an extra charge for after school activities?
A number of after school activities run throughout the year including Cricket, Football, Netball, Fencing, Literature Group and Photography. There is no extra charge for these clubs but pupils must make their own way home at 5pm.
